The Campus

Children’s Learning Center is an integral part of Sambhaavnaa Institute of public policy and Politics founded under the aegis of Kumud Bhushan Education Society by an eminent PIL lawyer and activist, in 2004. This Institute started conducting programs in 2011.

The Sambhaavnaa Institute is an alternative learning and living space for those concerned with social and political change and has emerged as a platform for individuals and organisations to reflect on and engage with the injustices that prevail in society today.

Nestled in the village of Kandwari, in the lap of the mighty Dhauladhar ranges of Himachal Pradesh, Sambhaavnaa’s primary objective has been to nurture value-based leadership by encouraging individuals, especially the youth, to discuss and develop a critical perspective on the ideals and ideas that define a just society.

Sambhaavnaa campus aims to demonstrate and live alternatives to the industrial-corporate juggernaut, and constantly explores both new and ancient local solutions.

Sambhaavnaa through the way it functions locally is a space for demonstrating the alternatives in various areas of life:

  • Architecture – Built using locally-sourced materials and traditional architectural design and practices, the Sambhaavnaa campus celebrates the surroundings in which it stands. Didi Contractor, a renowned architect specializing in traditional eco-friendly construction methods of the Himalayas along with local carpenters, masons and workers, has helped give shape to Sambhaavnaa’s core values.

  • Sambhaavnaa’s campus also hosts a farm, cowshed, and tea gardens that provide organic food and ensure the sustainability of practices and consumption.

  • Waste Management – We believe that our waste is our responsibility, hence compost is made from the kitchen waste and non-degradable waste is treated in an incinerator.

Our Institute welcomes sustainable ideas in terms of living and learning, keeping in mind the value of each individual contributing to the cause.
